Dock Dog Diving Event
presented by Hill's Pet Nutrition
The Kansas City Pet Expo will be jumping with excitement as some of the top Dock Dogs in the Midwest compete for top honors at the MoKan Dock Dogs club inaugural event! The jump will feature both Big Air (distance) and Extreme Vertical (height), and will also introduce the newest dock dogs event, the Speed Retrieve. In Big Air, the dogs run down a 40 foot dock and leap into a 30 foot long pool. In Extreme Vertical, the dogs jump up for a bumper suspended from a pole 8 feet out over the pool. In Speed Retrieve, the dogs run from the 20 foot mark, leap into the pool and swim the length to grab a plastic duck hanging at the end of the pool. There will be lots of different breeds and sizes of dogs competing and there are sure to be some high flying, big splashing jumps! Dock dogs is the fastest growing dog sport in the country and is packed with fun the whole family can enjoy!

Reptiles, Up Close and Personal
"David Nieves brings you Reptiles, Up Close and Personal" a fun, fast-paced, educational romp through the realm of reptiles. Five to six amazing live reptiles from around the world are brought out during the program. The audience will learn how we are different from reptiles, what we share with them, and why we need them around.
Canine Agility
Agility is the ultimate game for you and your dog. It is also one of the most exciting canine sports for spectators. In agility, a dog demonstrates its agile nature and versatility by following cues from the handler through a timed obstacle course. The course has jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and other obstacles. Agility strengthens the bond between dog and handler, is extremely fun, and provides vigorous exercise for both!
Flyball Tournament
Flyball is a relay race with 4 dogs on a team. The course consists of a starting line, 4 hurdles spaced 10 feet apart and a box. The first hurdle is 6 feet from the start line and the box is 15 feet from the last hurdle for a 51 foot overall length. The dogs jump the hurdles and step on a spring loaded box that shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the tennis ball and then runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat. Tournaments are usually organized in either a double elimination or round robin format. Double elimination is usually best of 3 or best of 5. Round robin is usually best 3 out of 5 and the first team to win 3 heats receives 1 point towards their standing in the tournament.
The hurdles' height are dependent on the height of the dogs in the team -- 4" below the shoulder height of the shortest dog. 7" is the minimum height and 14" is the maximum height.
The world record time is 15.22 seconds by SpringLoaded from Michigan, on July 16, 2005.
